Why volunteer

  • Hospices need volunteers. Over 100,000 people volunteer in hospices across the UK. Hospices couldn’t continue to offer the current level of support to patients and their families without volunteers.
  • You can give your time, your skills and experience in many different ways. You can volunteer as a fundraiser, a gardener, a driver, a receptionist, a befriender, a musician, a hairdresser - to name just a few.
  • Hospice volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds from students to retired people, from people who volunteer job-related skills to those who simply give their time and enthusiasm to take on a job that needs doing.
  • Being a hospice volunteer isn’t a one-way street. Volunteers gain as well as give. It’s a chance to make new friends, face new challenges and learn new skills
